Dr. Conny Wagner

Clinic Owner, Dr. med. vet.
dr.wagner@hawthornevet.com

I grew up in a small town in Thuringia, Germany and received my veterinary degree from the University of Leipzig in 1996. I have been working in private practice since my move to Portland in 2003. I strongly believe in the integration of Eastern and Western Medicine, guided by compassion, communication, and appropriate diagnostics in order to achieve the best possible outcome for my patients. I am certified in veterinary acupuncture and continue my training in veterinary herbal medicine and food therapy. I also integrate homeopathy, aromatherapy, Bach Flowers, and TTouch into my holistic care.

I love spending time with family & friends, traveling, hiking, ping pong, pickle ball and gardening.

Lisa H Lin

Certified Veterinary Technician (BVMS)

I am a veterinarian by training, currently preparing for the national veterinary licensing board exam. I was raised in Taiwan, Saipan, Texas and New York. My career and volunteer work has taken me to many parts of the world including Madagascar, Thailand, New Zealand, Ethiopia, Ireland, Scotland, England, and most recently Nepal. My colorful journey entailed chasing diurnal and nocturnal lemurs in the rain forests of Madagascar, to neutering homeless dogs and cats in Thailand for population control, to improving animal welfare conditions of donkeys and mules (the people’s livelihood) in Bahadir, Ethiopia. I received my BVMS from the University of Glasgow, Scotland and I am a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons since 2010. After practicing conventional veterinary medicine in the UK, I returned stateside to further my studies with the Chi Institute of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine based in Florida, where I honed in on my acupuncture skills in diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal and neurological disorders.

I am an outdoor enthusiast who enjoys sport climbing at Smith Rock, mountaineering, snowboarding and volunteer world travel.

I love meeting and caring for the variety of animals and their guardians that come through our door every day, and take pride in providing everyone with the attention and compassion they deserve.

When I am not at the clinic, I love being active outside with hiking and biking excursions and spending time with my husband Andrew.

I am currently preparing for the national veterinary licensing board exam through the AVMA Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates (ECFVG), while also I work as a veterinary technician. I love the team at Hawthorne Veterinary Clinic, and I'm passionate about providing excellent care to every client and pet we see.

Born and raised in Portland, Oregon I have graduated from Benson HS and received a certification in veterinary assisting from Carrington College. Recently starting my journey here at Hawthorne Veterinary Clinic, I am excited to meet all the clients and their four-legged companions. My passion for animals began at the age of 3 when first traveling to Mexico to visit family. Every trip was always heartbreaking, I could never fathom or understand why there were so many strays and saw very few animals that had homes. Seeing the reality for these animals drove me to want to pursue a career in the veterinary field. I love animals and truly feel my purpose in life is to help heal and educate pet guardians to help their companions live healthy lives.

I love spending time with my family, eating a lot of food,  listening to music and going hiking.

Homegrown here in Portland, Oregon, I have always had a strong love for animals and a nurturing tendency. After graduating high school, I took a few years off until I decided the veterinary field was for me. I am currently gaining experience in the veterinary industry here at the Hawthorne Veterinary Clinic while pursuing prerequisite courses for Portland Community College’s Veterinary Technology program.

I am passionate about providing access to healing and preventative care through the synthesis of Eastern and Western medicine.
