Dr. J Says Farewell to Hawthorne Veterinary Clinic
You’re Invited! Clinic Open House, Sunday, October 16
It’s hard to believe that 15 years have passed since Hawthorne Veterinary Clinic opened its doors. And for me, it has been a incredibly rewarding experience, with a wonderful clientele and scores of amazing, unique dogs and cats, many of whom I will never forget. There was the inspiring whippet, who–after losing both his front legs–learned to get around just fine by hopping like a kangaroo on his back legs. Nicholai, the pit bull mix that survived and thrived for a year and a half with a type of aggressive lymphatic cancer that most dogs succumb to in less than three months. Able, the black and white cat that was given up to us because he had a “little peeing issue,” who became our clinic cat and lived to the age of 23. And so many others, not to mention their dedicated guardians that I’ve had the honor to have known and worked with, who have entrusted me with the medical care of their beloved pets. I can’t thank you enough.
As much as Hawthorne Veterinary Clinic has meant to me throughout all these years, I have made the decision to start a new chapter in my life and career. My wife Becky, our four dogs and two cats and I are relocating to Southern Oregon.
I’m pleased to announce that Doctor Cornelia Wagner (see her bio below) will be taking over as owner of the clinic on October 15. Additionally, Doctor Ingrid Hamman plans to stay on as an associate veterinarian, and most of the staff that many of you have come to know so well will also stay on. You can be assured of the ongoing dedication to the best blend of holistic and conventional medicine that you’ve come to expect and appreciate.
We kindly invite you to drop by the clinic open house on Sunday, October 16, from noon until 4 p.m. It’s an excellent opportunity for you to meet Doctor Wagner, and for me to say thank you in person for all the support you’ve given me all these years. Doctor Wagner and I hope to see you there.
I extend my heartfelt thanks to the dedicated, hardworking veterinarians and staff that I’ve had the pleasure of working with all these years. I’m proud to have had a business that has brought so many people together–individuals with so much love and respect for our animal companions. I couldn’t have done it without you.
Warm regards,
Dr. Jeff Judkins
Introducing Cornelia Wagner, Dr. med. vet.
Dr. Wagner grew up in East Germany and received her veterinary degree from the University of Leipzig in 1996. She has been working in private practice for 9 years and moved to Portland in 2003 after a brief stint in the Midwest where she was working in a holistic feline clinic.
Dr. Wagner believes in the integration of both Eastern and Western Medicine, guided by compassion, communication, and appropriate diagnostics in order to achieve the best possible outcome for her patients. In addition to conventional medicine and surgery, Dr. Wagner is trained in Chinese Veterinary Herbal Medicine and is currently pursuing certification in Veterinary Acupuncture. She integrates homeopathy, Western herbs, Bach Flower remedies, and TTouch when appropriate into her holistic care. As the former owner of a behavioral house-call practice, Dr. Wagner also helps pets and their guardians with pet behavior problems.
Dr. Wagner enjoys hiking, gardening, yoga and playing the guitar. She loves to spend time with her family which includes partner John and companions Nina, an English Springer Spaniel Mix who is just learning to get around on three legs, and Mr. Super-Cooper, a Kelpie Mix who still acts like a puppy despite his older age.
